How We Started
Our Team

Hello there!
We are Jade and Sandor – a Dutch-Hungarian couple with a great love for peace, nature and the outdoors.
In 2020, we discovered an old cottage just outside Hajdúszoboszló, opposite a beautiful fishing lake. It was neglected, but we immediately saw its potential: a place where people can truly escape the hustle and bustle, relax and breathe again.
We renovated the house completely with our own hands. Every shelf, every lamp, even the stairs were designed and built by ourselves.
We wanted to create a place that feels like a warm embrace – with natural materials, lots of privacy, a touch of romance and a bit of magic.
Today, we share this place – The Hajdu Hide-Away – with guests from all over the world.
It makes us incredibly happy to see how others come here to relax, recharge and make new memories.
Welcome to our home in Hungary.

From dilapidated outbuilding to charming hideaway.
When we bought the property in 2021, it wasn't even a cottage—more like a dilapidated outbuilding without water, electricity, or a bathroom. Only one small room upstairs reminded us that life had once been there.
With a lot of love, perseverance, and a healthy dose of creativity, we took it one step at a time. We did most of the work ourselves: from carpentry to painting, from laying floors to making furniture. For the larger jobs—such as plastering and insulation—we hired professionals.
Living in the Netherlands, it was a challenge to find the time and budget to go to Hungary for a few weeks each time. But little by little, the outbuilding transformed into what it is today: a charming, comfortable holiday home where every detail has been carefully selected.
The only thing that still reminds us of the original building are most of the original walls. Everything inside and outside has been renovated with our own hands and ideas. For us, The Hajdu Hide-Away is more than just a place, but a dream that became reality over the past four years – and which we now share with our guests with great love.

Although San and I (Jade) live in the Netherlands full-time, the heart of the Hajdu Hide-Away beats thanks to our wonderful local team in Hungary. Noémi, Virág, Kate, and Imre are nearby to make sure your stay runs smoothly and feels just as relaxed as we imagined it for you. They take care of the details, from preparing the house with love to answering questions during your stay.
From time to time, you might also spot our friendly handyman, Dávid, who is never far away if something technical needs fixing. He’s the one who makes sure everything—from the hot tub to the garden lights—works as it should.
Together, we form a small but dedicated team, all with one goal:
to make your stay at the Hide-Away feel effortless, cozy, and unforgettable.
